Three usual causes: a clogged drain pump filter (the most common fault, especially on front-load washers, often fixable without ordering parts), a failed drain pump motor ($180 to $280 replacement), or a blocked drain hose (mineral scale from Lake Elsinore's hard water at 135 to 160 ppm builds up inside the hose over years).
The drain pump filter check is the first step on every "won't drain" call because if the filter is the problem, the customer saves the cost of a parts replacement.
